These small booklets are studies on the light and waters of Kaasda Héen in Sitka, Alaska. This river is ever changing, with no two days revealing the same light and textures and colors. The trees around the river are old and huge, the forest is old and still, and in the autumn the river is full of life-giving fish.

And the river- the river and the light upon it changes every day. Some days the river is still and regal and emerald. Some moments it is full of gold from a faint winter sunset. Other days it’s stormy and churned with rain. In the middle of winter, the dippers dance on the rocks and the light shimmers copper through the trees.
